Hello, I am Ícaro. I am interested in digitalisation and decarbonisation of the maritime industry. Academically, I have been working on topics such as digital twins, simulation of ocean operations, computational vessel design, design optimization, and data management in shipbuilding and design. In corporate settings, I contribute best by bridging technical and business aspects of maritime projects to ensure developed solutions address operational needs.
I am Business Technologist at Wilhelmsen Ship Management, working with services for compliance of commercial vessels with regulations for greenhouse gas emissions, especially the European Emissions Trading System (EU ETS) and FuelEU Maritime. I am also Adjunct Associate Professor in the Department of Ocean Operations and Civil Engineering at NTNU in Ålesund. There, I collaborate with the Smart European Shipbuilding (SEUS) project, which aims to streamline data usage through vessel life cycle stages. Previous experiences are described on my CV.
Most papers I have co-authored are available openly. If you cannot find the manuscript through the publisher’s page linked on my ORCID profile, look for it in NTNU’s institutional repository, NTNU Open, or else just ask me.
(List includes only lectures and talks given after conclusion of my PhD.)
